Bishkek: Officials in Kyrgyzstan and a delegation from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) recently engaged in discussions to implement a grant project aimed at establishing an agroprocessing center in Zhany-Zher village, located in the Sokuluk District. The discussions, reported by Trend via the Kyrgyz Ministry of Agriculture, focused on the strategic steps necessary for the project’s success.

According to Trend News Agency, the meeting involved representatives from Kyrgyz Agroholding JSC, the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry, and KOICA, with the delegation led by the Deputy Director of KOICA’s local office. The project is supported by KOICA grants with a budget totaling between $5 million and $6 million. The primary goals include enhancing the agricultural value chain, increasing the incomes of farmers, and expanding the region’s export potential.

During the meeting, participants reviewed several preparatory steps, such as the allocation of land, the development of a feasibility study, and the establishment of a project work schedule. The KOICA delegation underscored that the center is expected to serve as a model facility for Kyrgyzstan’s agricultural sector. Officials highlighted the project’s socioeconomic importance for the Chui Region. Both parties agreed on collaborative initiatives and a synergistic framework to ensure the project’s prompt and efficient execution.
