BISHKEK: Kyrgyzstan is in discussions with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) regarding a new transport project, which involves constructing a bridge on the Bishkek-Osh highway. The project aims to improve transportation and enhance safety along the route, according to initial negotiations between Deputy Minister Beknazar Bazaraliev and JICA representatives.
According to Trend News Agency, the proposed bridge will be a part of the 315 km Bishkek-Osh highway, a vital corridor in Kyrgyzstan. Both parties have emphasized the importance of uninterrupted transportation and the safety of goods and passengers. The project is anticipated to be funded through a grant, with considerations for environmental and social impacts during the construction phase.
JICA, established in 1974, functions as an independent agency supporting the economic and social development of developing countries under the Japanese government. In Kyrgyzstan, JICA’s efforts are geared towards achieving continuous and balanced econ
omic growth, contributing to the institutionalization of democracy.
