Bishkek - In a recent meeting in Bishkek, the Speaker of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan, Nurlanbek Shakiyev, met with Javad Awad, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Palestine to Kyrgyzstan. The meeting's details were shared by the Parliament's press service.
According to 24.kg News Agency, the discussion focused on the bilateral relations between Kyrgyzstan and Palestine. Shakiyev expressed Kyrgyzstan's deep concern regarding the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip. He conveyed condolences on behalf of the Parliament to the families and people of Palestine affected by the conflict, expressing a hope for an expedited end to the tragedy.
Shakiyev recalled the recent VIII Islamic Summit in Riyadh, which addressed the situation in Palestine. President Sadyr Japarov, who attended the summit, urged the international community to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza's citizens. Additionally, Shakiyev announced a significant gesture of solidarity: the deputies of Kyrgyzstan's Parliament will donate their one-day salaries to assist the Palestinian people. Furthermore, he mentioned that humanitarian aid would be sent on behalf of Kyrgyzstan's head of state.
Ambassador Awad highlighted the long-standing nature of the conflict, mentioning that the violence, ongoing for 75 years, has recently escalated, resulting in thousands of casualties, including a significant number of children. He expressed gratitude to Kyrgyzstan's President, Parliament, and public for their support during these difficult times for the Palestinian people.
Awad emphasized the challenges in delivering humanitarian aid and the continued destruction of essential facilities like hospitals. He appealed to the international community to intervene and end the Israeli occupation.
