Kyrgyzstan’s President to Attend BRICS Summit in Russia


KAZAN: Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Zhaparov is set to attend the XVI BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia, on October 23-24, highlighting the country’s engagement with major emerging economies. The summit is expected to address several global issues and make decisions aimed at strengthening multilateralism and integrating new members into the organization.

According to Trend News Agency, Muratbek Azymbakiev, head of the presidential administration’s foreign policy department, announced the president’s participation and emphasized the significance of the upcoming meeting of heads of state. The BRICS summit will focus on key decisions that seek to enhance cooperation among its members and address pressing international challenges.

BRICS, an intergovernmental organization founded in 2006, aims to bolster collaboration among emerging economies. As of January 1, 2024, Russia will hold the chairmanship of the organization. The membership, which originally included Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, has exp
anded to welcome Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia, reflecting its growing influence on the global stage.
