Baku:AzerEnerji is on the verge of completing the construction of three additional hydropower plants in the Lachin district, with a combined capacity of 10.7 megawatts.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, the Seyidlar, Bulovlu, and Goshasu hydropower plants are being developed on the Shalva River. Specifically, the Seyidlar plant will have a capacity of 4.59 megawatts, the Bulovlu plant 3.16 megawatts, and the Goshasu plant 2.93 megawatts. To facilitate these projects, water intake facilities have been constructed, and 14.5 kilometers of diversion pipelines have been installed to transport water through the challenging mountainous terrain.
The construction of these plants is nearing its final stages, with turbines and generators currently being installed. Completion is anticipated in the coming months.
Over the past six years, AzerEnerji has successfully built and commissioned 11 hydropower plants in the Lachin district, totaling 72.6 megawatts in capacity. Upon completion of the new plants, the district will host 14 hydropower plants with a total capacity of 83.3 megawatts.
Currently, the Lachin district's electricity needs, ranging from 8 to 10 megawatts, are fully met by the 'green energy' generated from these hydropower facilities. Any electricity produced beyond the district's demand is integrated into the national power grid.
