Lavrov: “CSTO peacekeepers demonstrated their potential to the whole world”

“There are many enough attempts to shake the situation in Central Asia from the outside,” said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday at his annual news conference, APA’s correspondent in Moscow reports.

Speaking on activity of peacekeeping forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in Kazakhstan, Russsian FM noted that withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan effects the situation in Central Asia: “There are many attempts from outside to shake the situation in both Central Asia and other CSTO states. These attempts have become more ambitious and dangerous after fleeing of Americas from Afghanistan with NATO members.”

Lavrov also added that the CSTO peacekeepers demonstrated their potential to the whole world: “I hope that it will not be needed to apply the experience from now on.”
