Baku: A proposal to establish legal norms among the space entities of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) for the initiation of future space projects was announced by the Acting Chairman of the Board of Azerbaijan Space Agency (Azercosmos), Dunay Badirkhanov. This announcement was made at the 4th meeting of the heads of space agencies of the OTS held in Baku.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Badirkhanov emphasized Azerbaijan’s readiness to share its experience in this field. He highlighted the significance of the ‘Space Activity Law’ in Azerbaijan, which aligns with international treaties and norms. This legal framework serves as a roadmap for sustainable development in the space sector and ensures compliance with UN space treaties, strengthening the country’s commitment to responsible space exploration.

Badirkhanov also discussed the Turkish World 2040 Concept, adopted in 2021, which outlines goals for space cooperation among Turkic states. He noted the collective commitment to peaceful space exploration and scientific progress. As part of this initiative, the Turkish Space Innovations Fund has been established to support joint research initiatives, satellite development programs, startup incubation, and the commercialization of space technologies across the Turkic world. The combined resources and experience of member states are aimed at creating a regional innovation ecosystem.
