Monrovia: The Liberian government is actively promoting the involvement of women and youth in housing projects, not just as end-users, but as financiers and developers. This initiative was highlighted by Fatima Bintu Sirleaf, Deputy Minister for Urban Affairs at Liberia's Ministry of Local Government, during the 'From Political Commitment to Implementation Readiness' ministerial roundtable at the World Urban Forum (WUF13), as reported by APA-Economics.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the country's housing policy is geared toward human capital development, employment, entrepreneurship, and financial inclusion. F.B. Sirleaf elaborated on the strategy of encouraging women to partake in housing projects as financiers and developers, which aims to foster gender equality and boost women's roles in economic activities.

The deputy minister further explained that entrepreneurship and investment programs tailored for young people are designed to enhance the participation of architects, engineers, and entrepreneurs in the housing sector. A significant development in this direction is the Youth Entrepreneurship and Investment Bank, inaugurated in July 2025 with the backing of the African Development Bank (AfDB). This institution provides essential resources such as financing, seed capital, credit guarantees, and business training to empower the youth.

F.B. Sirleaf stressed that housing is more than just a dwelling. It plays a vital role in enabling individuals to reach their potential, enhancing economic activity, and fostering the growth of local communities.
