He expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan's support during the 1991 Vilnius events, acknowledging the bravery of two Lithuanians of Azerbaijani origin who received medals for their injuries during the conflict. The ambassador highlighted the shared truth between the two cities' historical events, underscoring that freedom invariably demands sacrifice.

The ambassador further noted the symbolic significance of hosting the memorial at Mstislav Rostropovich's house-museum, honoring Rostropovich's vocal opposition to Soviet aggression and his charitable contributions to Lithuania during the Vilnius events.
