Lithuanian Official Commends Azerbaijan’s Role in Ukraine’s Reconstruction Efforts

Baku: Povilas Poderskis, Chancellor of the Ministry of Environment of Lithuania, expressed gratitude towards Azerbaijan for its significant role in supporting Ukraine's reconstruction efforts during a ministerial roundtable at the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum in Baku. He acknowledged the forum's high-level organization and emphasized the ongoing priority of achieving tangible results a decade after the New Urban Agenda's adoption. Poderskis highlighted that for Lithuania, housing is fundamental to creating safe, sustainable, and inclusive urban environments.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Poderskis elaborated on Lithuania's alignment with EU urban policies, which include long-term spatial strategies, enhanced planning regulations, expanded climate initiatives, and increased public participation. He mentioned that the decentralization of state land management to local municipalities has led to more effective decision-making processes. Furthermore, energy-efficiency renovations in multi-apartment buildings in Lithuania have resulted in up to 40% energy savings, demonstrating the country's commitment to sustainability.

In addressing Ukraine's ongoing situation, Poderskis praised Azerbaijan's involvement in reconstruction efforts, underscoring Lithuania's commitment to fostering international collaboration in rebuilding sustainable, human-centered cities.
