Baku: Azerbaijan has reported a significant reduction in losses from its main gas pipelines, with figures showing a 20.9% decrease last year, as revealed by the State Statistical Committee to APA-Economics. The recorded losses amounted to 47.3 million cubic meters, a substantial drop from the previous year’s total of 59.8 million cubic meters.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the overall transportation of gas through Azerbaijan’s main pipelines reached 40,348.3 million cubic meters last year, marking a 2.7% increase from the prior year. A significant portion of this, 56.6%, was transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum South Caucasus pipeline, a key route for exporting gas from the Shah Deniz gas-condensate field. During the reporting period, the pipeline transmitted 22,851.9 million cubic meters of gas, reflecting a 4.3% increase.
