Man City, Real Madrid on verge of Champions League last 16

England’s Manchester City and Spain’s Real Madrid are on the brink of the UEFA Champions League last 16 as the clubs will qualify for the knockout stage in case of winning their matches on Tuesday, according to Anadolu Agency.

 

Manchester City will visit Copenhagen in Group G, and Real Madrid will face Ukrainian opponents Shakhtar Donetsk in a Group F match in Warsaw.

 

Both Manchester City and Real Madrid have won all their three matches each in their groups to be on top.

 

If Man City and Real Madrid beat their opponents each on Tuesday, they will secure last 16 berths, each with two matches to spare.

 

The Copenhagen vs. Man City match at the Parken Stadium will start at 1645GMT, and the match between Shakhtar Donetsk and Real Madrid will kick off at 1900GMT.

 

Norwegian forward Erling Haaland, 22, is spending a dream season with Man City, scoring 20 goals in 13 matches. Phil Foden, a Man City midfielder, scored seven goals in 12 matches to contribute to his team.

 

Meanwhile, Brazilian star Vinicius Junior is leading Real Madrid in goalscoring as the 22-year-old winger scored seven goals in 12 appearances.

 

His compatriot Rodrygo bagged four goals for the Whites, and the Spanish club’s French star Karim Benzema added four goals this season.
