Masdar and Iberdrola Complete Installation of Turbines at Baltic Eagle Offshore Wind Farm

Abu Dhabi: The installation of wind turbines at the 476 MW Baltic Eagle offshore wind farm, a joint venture between global clean energy leader Iberdrola and the UAE’s Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company), has been successfully completed, marking a significant advancement in renewable energy projects in Europe.

According to Trend News Agency, the completion of turbine installations at the Baltic Eagle offshore wind farm represents a critical step for Iberdrola and Masdar in their joint effort to expand renewable energy capacity on the continent. The project, which involved the installation of 50 Vestas turbines each with a capacity of 9.53 MW by Fred. Olsen Windcarrier, is expected to deliver renewable power to approximately 475,000 households. It will also contribute to a significant reduction in carbon dioxide emissions, estimated at about 800,000 tons annually.

Baltic Eagle is strategically positioned as the second of Iberdrola’s three flagship offshore wind farms in Germany, forming a crucial part o
f what is known as the company’s Baltic Hub. The Hub also includes the already operational 350 MW Wikinger wind farm and the upcoming 315 MW Windanker project. By 2026, the Baltic Hub is expected to exceed 1.1 GW in total capacity, symbolizing an investment of around pound 3.7 billion.

The project is not only a milestone for Iberdrola but also for Masdar, marking its first collaboration with Iberdrola and its initial venture into the German market. This project, achieved through Masdar’s largest-ever euro-denominated financing, underscores the company’s ambition to support energy transition efforts globally and reinforce Germany’s renewable energy objectives.
