Baku: Today, the first meeting of the Central Election Commission (CEC) was held with its new composition, APA reports. Organizational issues were considered at the meeting - the election of the CEC chairman, deputy chairman, and secretaries.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Mazahir Panahov was re-elected as the CEC chairman. Mazahir Panahov expressed his gratitude to the members of the commission for the trust shown to him. The meeting also saw Rovzat Gasimov elected as the deputy chairman of the CEC, while Arifa Mukhtarova and Mikayil Rahimov were elected as secretaries of the CEC.

It is noteworthy that at the plenary session of the Milli Majlis held today, the draft decision 'On the election of members and substitute members of the Central Election Commission' was put up for discussion and subsequently adopted.
