MCDF Highlights Growing Strategic Role of Middle Corridor in Global Trade

Baku: The Middle Corridor is gaining traction as a vital trade route linking Asia and Europe, underscoring the need for high-quality infrastructure investments for its development. Ayumi Konishi, Senior Advisor to the CEO of the Multilateral Cooperation Center for Development Finance (MCDF), emphasized this during a session titled 'Financing the Middle Corridor for Sustainable Transport and Trade,' which was part of the Islamic Development Bank Annual Meetings held in Baku.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Konishi highlighted that projects along the Middle Corridor could receive support from institutions such as the Islamic Development Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, alongside other partner organizations.

Konishi elaborated on the role of MCDF, established in 2021, which is supported by seven donor countries and collaborates with 14 international financial institutions. The advisor stated that MCDF is a multilateral initiative focused on promoting high-quality connectivity infrastructure investments through strategic partnerships. Over its five-and-a-half-year history, MCDF has organized 43 events, attracting more than 8,500 participants from over 100 countries, showcasing its commitment to fostering global trade connectivity.
