Nairobi: Members of the Kenyan Senate Stewart Madzayo, Tabitha Mutinda Munene, and Hamida Ali Kibwana, who are set to join the friendship group between the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan and the Kenyan Senate, visited the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the country. Ambassador Sultan Hajiyev briefed the senators on Azerbaijan’s development path based on the political course of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, as well as on the ongoing reconstruction and restoration efforts in the liberated territories.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Ambassador Hajiyev provided insight into Azerbaijan’s activities during its chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement, emphasizing the importance of parliamentary diplomacy. He highlighted initiatives proposed by Azerbaijan regarding hosting COP29 and preparations for the World Urban Forum (WUF13).

The meeting also underscored the historic significance of the Joint Declaration signed last week in Washington D.C by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, President of the United States Donald Trump, and Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan. The declaration aims to advance peace and development between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and for the region as a whole.

Both sides expressed hope that the cooperation established between the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan and the Senate of Kenya would contribute positively to the dynamic of the rapidly developing relations between the two countries.
