Doha: Defending champions Argentina and France secured their places in the round of 32 on the twelfth day of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, in Group J, Argentina defeated Austria 2-0 with Lionel Messi scoring twice, including a stoppage-time goal. This achievement increased his all-time World Cup record to 18 goals, surpassing Miroslav Klose's previous record.

In Group I, France dominated Iraq with a 3-0 victory, featuring a brace from Kylian Mbapp© and a goal from Ousmane Demb©l©. Norway also secured their qualification after a thrilling 3-2 win over Senegal, with two goals contributed by Erling Haaland.

Argentina now leads Group J with six points, while France and Norway have both advanced from Group I with maximum points.

Other results from the day included Spain's 4-0 victory over Saudi Arabia and Egypt's historic first-ever World Cup win, where they defeated New Zealand 3-1.
