Meteorological Service warned of flood threat

The National Hydrometeorology Service issued a warning due to the rising level of water in the Kura River.

According to the Ministry’s report as of 08:30, June 28, the water level in the river rose by 88 cm in a day. Water flow rate was 810 meters per second, exceeding the 10-day norm by 200%.

The reason for the increase in the Kura River water level is heavy precipitation in the territory of Georgia.

Meteorologists do not rule out floods in the upper reaches of the Kura River. The population of Agstafa, Gazakh and Tovuz regions has been notified of the threat of flooding.

The National Hydrometeorological Service warns of ongoing unstable weather until the end of the month.
