MFA Reports 422 Azerbaijani Citizens Affected by Landmines Since Conflict

Baku: Landmines continue to claim lives in Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan said in a statement on X, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the statement highlighted a recent tragedy on April 14, when an employee of the Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan was killed after triggering an anti-tank landmine in the Fuzuli district, specifically in the village of Ashaghy Abdurrahmanli.

The Ministry extended its condolences to the victim's family, loved ones, and colleagues, describing the incident as a stark reminder of the ongoing human cost of landmines and the daily risks faced by demining personnel working to ensure safety in liberated areas. The statement also noted that since the end of the 2020 war, 422 Azerbaijanis have fallen victim to landmines, emphasizing the urgent need for enhanced international support for comprehensive demining efforts.
