Baku: The Ministry of Science and Education has praised the Turkish President's recent decision concerning Karabakh University, marking a significant advancement in the collaboration between Azerbaijan and Turkey in the realm of higher education.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Karabakh University and Istanbul Technical University (ITU) are set to collaborate on various educational initiatives, focusing on engineering disciplines. This collaboration will involve organizing teaching, training, and research activities, along with establishing the necessary educational infrastructure.

The Ministry highlighted that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed Decision No. 11647 on August 27, 2026. This decision pertains to establishing academic units under Karabakh University, which will be affiliated with the Rectorate of Istanbul Technical University. The integration of ITU's extensive academic and scientific expertise in engineering with Karabakh University's capabilities is expected to enhance modern teaching and research opportunities, produce highly skilled engineering professionals, and foster joint scientific endeavors.

The cooperation aims to establish dual degree programs, facilitate student and academic staff exchanges, implement joint research projects, and develop engineering-related infrastructure. This initiative exemplifies the strengthening of Azerbaijan-Turkey relations through institutional cooperation in science and higher education, channeling the academic and scientific potential of both nations to support the reconstruction and future development of Karabakh.
