Barda:Six years have passed since the missile attacks on Azerbaijan's Barda city by Armenian armed forces during the 44-day Patriotic War, which began on September 27, 2020. The city was shelled on October 5, resulting in the deaths of two people and injuries to six others due to shrapnel. The attacks caused extensive damage to civilian infrastructure.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, during the war, Barda was attacked on five occasions - October 5, 8, 27, 28, and November 7, 2020. These attacks killed a total of 29 residents and injured 112 others. Among the deceased were two children, eight women, and 19 men. The attacks involved various weapons, including missiles and cluster munitions.
On the same day, Armenian forces also targeted Ganja, striking areas near the Ganja International Hospital, a secondary school, a furniture factory, and other locations. These attacks injured three civilians and caused significant damage to infrastructure. Ganja was subjected to missile and heavy artillery fire five times during the war, resulting in 26 deaths and 175 injuries.
Beylagan was also attacked on October 5, with missiles landing in a kindergarten yard and an empty area. That day, Barda, Ganja, Beylagan, Goranboy, Goygol, and Tartar districts were all under fire.
Overall, Armenian forces shelled several Azerbaijani cities and districts, including Ganja, Barda, Yevlakh, Beylagan, Tartar, Gabala, Goranboy, Aghjabadi, and Khizi, using ballistic missiles and heavy artillery systems. The war resulted in the deaths of 93 civilians, including 12 children and 27 women, and left 454 civilians injured. Additionally, 12,292 residential and non-residential facilities and 288 vehicles were damaged.
In response to these attacks, criminal cases were launched under relevant articles of Azerbaijan's Criminal Code.
