Moldovan Citizens Seek Consular Assistance Amid Middle East Tensions

Chisinau: The Moldovan Foreign Ministry has reported that 28 Moldovan citizens have requested consular assistance in the Middle East. The crisis cell of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely monitoring security developments in the region through the Republic of Moldova's diplomatic missions.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, no casualties or injuries among Moldovan citizens have been reported. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has stated that embassies in the region are maintaining direct contact with citizens and offering assistance as per requests.

In the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, 13 evacuation requests have been recorded, although the citizens involved do not currently wish to leave these areas. Public services continue to function normally, and commercial flights are operational on a limited basis.

In Qatar, 15 consular assistance requests have been made, including two concerning citizens in Kuwait. Nineteen cases have been resolved, with assistance from Romanian and Polish embassies or through citizens' own arrangements.

The situation in Israel remains tense, with a state of emergency extended until March 2026, and current restrictions in place until mid-March 2026. In Turkey, no new measures affecting air transport or travel have been announced.

The Moldovan embassy in Baku is also monitoring developments and staying in touch with Moldovan citizens in the countries where it holds concurrent accreditation. Moldovan citizens are encouraged to check official embassy pages for updates and reach out for assistance if needed.
