Chisinau: The leading Moldovan news portal 'Noi.md' has published an article highlighting Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's interview with local TV channels.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the articles, published in Romanian and Russian languages, drew the readers' attention to President Ilham Aliyev's remarks on Azerbaijan's growing role in energy supply. In the interview, President Aliyev emphasized that Azerbaijan has supplied gas to 14 countries, 11 of them on a regular basis. He noted that while some countries received gas in 2024 but later stopped due to other sources, the supply from Azerbaijan is based on demand. The President highlighted that the geographic coverage of pipeline gas from Azerbaijan currently includes 14 countries, with two additional European countries expected to join this year, bringing the total to 16. He stated that no other country supplies pipeline gas to as many countries as Azerbaijan, with exports exceeding 25 billion cubic meters last year and potential for growth.

The President further elaborated on future prospects, mentioning the anticipated start of a new phase in the Shah Deniz field, known as Shah Deniz Compression, which is expected to provide additional gas. He also pointed out the promising potential of the Babek field, which has attracted significant investment interest. Additionally, he compared the size of the Absheron field to Shah Deniz, noting that while Absheron is currently producing its first phase for local consumption, its second phase is expected to triple gas output. President Aliyev concluded by highlighting the increasing demand for Azerbaijani gas in countries that already receive it and those that have yet to be supplied.
