Baku: More than 50 buildings in the Sovetsky area are planned to be designated as historical buildings, as announced by Riad Gasimov, head of the Baku City Architecture and Urban Planning Department of the State Urban Planning and Architecture Committee. This development comes amid ongoing efforts to manage the urban landscape in the area, as reported by APA.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, there are currently over 70 buildings in the Sovetsky area recognized as historical. In recent months, various agencies have been actively involved in planning the relocation and protection of these structures. The area has also witnessed significant demolition activities, leading to the relocation of approximately 400 families. This relocation process is expected to continue as part of the broader urban management initiative.
Gasimov noted that many buildings in the Sovetsky area, which lack historical significance, are found to be in poor and neglected condition. The preservation of such structures is not deemed appropriate, underscoring the focus on maintaining those with historical value.
