More than half of residents of Kyrgyzstan cannot afford proper nutrition

To date, 49.6 percent of Kyrgyzstanis cannot afford a proper diet. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (UN FAO) reported.

 

«In Azerbaijan, good nutrition cost $2.53 per day in 2020, in Armenia — $3.25, in Belarus — $3.31, in Kazakhstan — $2.66, in Kyrgyzstan — $3.18, in Moldova — $2.81, in Russia — $3,42, in Tajikistan — $3.48,» FAO informs.

 

Experts emphasize that the cost of a healthy diet continues to rise. In 2019, compared to 2020, about 112 million more people could afford a proper diet. Most of all, the number of people who fell below the line of «food poverty» increased in Asia — by 78 million people. The largest increase in the cost of a nutritious food basket, up 4 percent in a year, was registered in the same region.
