Mukhtar Babayev Highlights Collaborative Efforts with Brazil for COP30

Baku: Mukhtar Babayev, the Presidential Representative on Climate Issues of the Republic of Azerbaijan and President of COP29, emphasized the collaborative efforts with Brazil in preparation for COP30. He stressed the importance of involving young people in climate negotiations, stating that efforts are underway to equip Azerbaijani youth with the necessary skills and opportunities for development during the green transition period.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Mukhtar Babayev expressed support for Brazil’s Presidency of COP30 and the role of the Youth Climate Ambassador. He highlighted the ongoing preparations and the need to clarify the implementation of decisions adopted at COP29 and previous conferences. Babayev noted the significance of these implementations for the success of future climate action.

Babayev further emphasized the importance of discussions at COP30, which he believes will drive the process of full implementation of decisions taken in Baku. He expressed confidence in the strong relationship and teamwork with Brazil, viewing any success achieved at COP30 as a shared accomplishment.

Babayev also mentioned the mandate to hold donors and international organizations accountable for their commitments, a task he described as a long-term effort. He outlined ongoing discussions with countries, banks, and the private sector, underscoring the continuous nature of this work throughout the year.
