Baku: The Heydar Aliyev Center is showcasing another remarkable work of art, starting April 1st. Today marked the unveiling of “My Heart is Yours,” a sculpture by Italian artist Lorenzo Quinn, meticulously crafted from Bohemian crystal and 6,500-year-old oak, APA reports. This is the debut exhibition of the artwork.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the event was inaugurated by Anar Alakbarov, Director of the Heydar Aliyev Center, who highlighted the Center’s commitment to showcasing diverse exhibitions with a consistent focus on Italian art. Alakbarov recalled the successful presentation of Quinn’s “Equilibrium in Nature” exhibition during COP29 last year and expressed gratitude to all involved in the current project.
Olga Daniele, founder of “365 Art” and the exhibition’s curator, elaborated on the extensive journey of crafting “My Heart is Yours.” She highlighted the intricate craftsmanship needed to shape the crystal and the significance of the 6,500-year-old oak used in the sculpture.
Artist Lorenzo Quinn shared his enthusiasm about premiering “My Heart is Yours” at the Heydar Aliyev Center, emphasizing art’s ability to unite people, histories, and cultures. He described the sculpture as a testament to enduring relationships, symbolized by the ancient oak.
The composition, a unique masterpiece, embodies fragility and strength. Quinn used contrasting materials: the delicate Bohemian crystal hands cradle a heart made from robust oak, representing resilience. While Quinn is known for his expressive sculptures of hands, this marks his first time working with crystal in this manner.
“My Heart is Yours” complements Lorenzo Quinn’s solo exhibition, “Equilibrium in Nature,” currently on display at the Heydar Aliyev Center, reinforcing the connection between humanity and nature.
