N. Korea: US downing missiles would mean war declaration

North Korean State Affairs Commission member Kim Yo-jong said that Pyongyang would consider military action by the United States, such as intercepting missiles fired in weapons tests, as a “clear declaration of war” against the North, APA reports citing Teletrader.

South Korean news outlets cited North Korean state media reporting that she also noted that Pyongyang’s weapons tests are carried out “without any harm to the safety of neighboring countries in the high seas and airspace not under the jurisdiction of the United States.”

At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of North Korea pointed out that the international community has to send a signal to the US and South Korea to stop their joint “irresponsible and worrisome” war drills immediately. “There is no guarantee that a violent physical clash will not occur in the Korean Peninsula” if “provocations continue to be ignored,” the ministry added.
