Baku: National Liberation Day was commemorated at Baku Engineering University in an event organized in conjunction with the No. 40 Territorial Organization of the Absheron District of the New Azerbaijan Party (NAP). Participants paid tribute to the memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and honored the nation's martyrs with a performance of the national anthem.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the event featured a video dedicated to National Liberation Day. In his opening remarks, BEU Vice-Rector for Social Affairs and Public Relations, Bayram Huseynzade, emphasized the day's significance in Azerbaijan's modern statehood. He recalled the early 1990s when Azerbaijan faced a political crisis, the threat of civil conflict, and the risk of losing state independence amidst Armenian aggression. Huseynzade noted that Heydar Aliyev's return to Baku was pivotal in ensuring sociopolitical stability and consolidating statehood, ultimately preventing the country's fragmentation.
Mikayil Zeynalov, BEU Vice-Rector for Financial and Economic Affairs, highlighted the new era in Azerbaijani statehood initiated by Heydar Aliyev's return to power. He discussed the steps taken towards building an independent, democratic state and securing economic revival through major oil contracts. Zeynalov credited the National Leader's diplomatic acumen for securing a ceasefire agreement with Armenia, which strengthened Azerbaijan's defense capability and contributed to the Victory in the 44-day Patriotic War. Under President Ilham Aliyev, Heydar Aliyev's political course continues to be successfully implemented, further consolidating Azerbaijan's economic strength and defense capabilities.
Lectures by Teyyuba Huseynova and Ilgar Sariyev further emphasized that modern Azerbaijan's achievements are rooted in the development strategy of Heydar Aliyev. They noted the ongoing advancement of this strategy under President Ilham Aliyev, highlighting the emphasis on patriotism among youth, a robust educational system, and the preservation of national values as key state policy priorities. The success in the Patriotic War was described as the logical outcome of strong statehood traditions and national unity.
The event concluded with BEU Rector Yagub Piriyev presenting party membership cards to new NAP members and awarding Letters of Appreciation to students who excelled in the university's social and public life.
