Aghdash: A regional meeting took place in the Central Aran Economic Region to discuss the "State Program for the Development of Agricultural, Fisheries, and Aquaculture Production and Processing Sectors in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026-2030," which was approved by a presidential decree on May 25, 2026.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the event in Aghdash gathered heads of relevant state bodies, farmers, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders from the Aghdash, Goychay, Kurdamir, Ujar, Yevlakh, and Zardab districts. Zeynal Naghdaliyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Department for Territorial and Organizational Issues of the Presidential Administration, addressed the participants. He highlighted President Ilham Aliyev's focus on agriculture, recent agricultural reforms, and the objectives of the new State Program, which marks a new stage in the sector's development.
Zaur Mikayilov, Chairman of the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency, discussed water supply in the Central Aran region and related infrastructure projects. He emphasized the importance of efficient water use and mentioned that the State Program would expand modern irrigation systems and introduce digital monitoring and management systems.
Seymur Safarli, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, outlined the region's agricultural priorities, including crop and livestock development, productivity growth, modern technology introduction, and improved subsidy and insurance mechanisms. He also highlighted expanded advisory and training support for farmers as key components of the State Program.
Orkhan Huseynzade, Head of the Aghdash District Executive Authority, spoke about the district's agricultural activities and the importance of the State Program. He noted that preparations for its implementation have already begun, including developing a joint Action Plan with the Ministry of Agriculture and strengthening inter-agency coordination.
Farmers and entrepreneurs attending the meeting expressed gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for his support of the agricultural sector. They noted that the State Program would provide opportunities for farm development and pledged to work diligently to implement its measures.
At the meeting's conclusion, Zeynal Naghdaliyev issued instructions to ensure the effective implementation of the State Program in the Central Aran region. He emphasized the importance of irrigation, timely agronomic care, farmer outreach, and stronger inter-agency coordination to support agricultural development and improve the region's agricultural potential.
