Baku: Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom to Azerbaijan, Duncan Norman, on June 3. During this meeting, Ambassador Norman presented a copy of his credentials to Minister Bayramov, marking the official commencement of his diplomatic responsibilities in Azerbaijan. Minister Bayramov extended his congratulations to the ambassador and expressed his best wishes for a successful tenure.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the discussion between the two officials covered a range of topics, including the current state and future prospects of Azerbaijan-United Kingdom relations. Both parties expressed satisfaction with the successful development of cooperation across various sectors such as politics, economy, energy, trade, investment, and education. They highlighted the importance of elevating the bilateral relationship to a strategic partnership and emphasized the need to expand high-level contacts and economic cooperation.

Minister Bayramov provided Ambassador Norman with an overview of the current regional situation, focusing on the post-conflict era, the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process, and the initiatives undertaken by Azerbaijan in this context. Ambassador Norman conveyed his eagerness to begin his duties in Azerbaijan and assured Minister Bayramov of his commitment to further enhancing the cooperation between the United Kingdom and Azerbaijan.
