Nigar Arpadarai: Baku Climate Action Week Showcased How to Connect Local with Global Solutions

Baku: The Baku Climate Action Week (BCAW2025) has successfully concluded, with in-depth discussions held on the most pressing issues of the climate agenda in the capital of Azerbaijan throughout a week, bringing together representatives of public institutions, the private sector, and civil society, Nigar Arpadarai, MP and UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP29 Azerbaijan, told AZERTAC.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the main goal of the event was to create a platform for open dialogue. Over the course of the week, 46 sessions were organized, featuring panel discussions, roundtables, special programs for youth, and additional events in various city centers. These activities aimed to cover all topics on the agenda.

Nigar Arpadarai noted that the discussions addressed issues such as the transition to a green economy, green skills development, sustainable agriculture, energy, transport, digitalization, and women’s leadership.

During the events, organizations from the Caucasus, Central Asia, Africa, and Europe presented their initiatives. Arpadarai expressed particular inspiration from presentations on women’s leadership and stories about sustainable fashion.

She emphasized that this initiative is the legacy of COP29, providing insight into the COP30 meetings in Brazil and highlighting the progress of a wide range of solutions. Arpadarai affirmed the global nature of climate action and the significant role of the region in this process, expressing anticipation for welcoming participants back to Baku next year.
