Baku: Nigar Gahramanova, an accomplished organist residing in Norway, has expressed her desire to perform the piece ‘Bayati-Shiraz’ on the organ in Garabagh. The organ, often regarded as the king of musical instruments, is known for its thousands of pipes, powerful sound, and extensive musical capabilities. Mastery of this instrument demands years of rigorous training and exceptional musical skill.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Nigar Gahramanova is a scholarship recipient of the Norwegian Ingar Dobloug Foundation and an alumna of the Norwegian Academy of Music and the Royal College of Music in London. She is also a laureate of international competitions. In an interview, she discussed the challenges faced by organists, her creative endeavor CantORganistA, and her aspiration to perform in Garabagh.
Gahramanova recounted her journey towards the organ, which began with her early musical education on the piano. Her path took a significant turn in 2010 when she was invited by the charity organization World in Need to the United Kingdom. There, she performed solo concerts as a pianist and vocalist, with proceeds aiding refugees and displaced persons from the First Garabagh War. During this time, she encountered an organ in a church rehearsal, an experience that profoundly impacted her. The instrument’s majestic sound resonated with her deeply, compelling her to transition from piano to organ, seeking a fuller expression of her musical identity. Gahramanova credits the organ with giving voice to her inner passions and musical vision.
