Rotterdam: The Norwegian women’s handball team emerged victorious at the World Handball Championship, securing their fifth title by defeating Germany 23-20 in the final match held in Rotterdam. This achievement further solidifies Norway’s standing in the sport, marking yet another milestone in their illustrious history.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the championship match showcased Norway’s skill and determination, culminating in a hard-fought victory against a resilient German team. Meanwhile, in the contest for third place, the French team managed to outplay the Netherlands with a 33-31 victory after extra time, displaying their competitiveness and tenacity.

Norway’s latest triumph adds to their already impressive tally of World Championship titles, distancing them from other successful teams like the Russian women’s handball team, which has claimed the title four times, and the USSR team, which has three golds to its name. Since 2022, teams from Russia and Belarus have been banned from participating in international competitions, impacting the competitive landscape of the sport.
