Baku: The transfer of the chairmanship of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) to Azerbaijan is extremely important for us, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Trkiye (GNAT) Numan Kurtulmus told journalists in Baku, APA reports. The Speaker of the Turkish Parliament emphasized the relevance of holding this significant meeting in Baku, which he described as particularly important for Trkiye.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Numan Kurtulmus underscored the importance of the Islamic world during a time of global upheaval and turbulence. He stated, "It is not possible for a unipolar world system to exist. No country or region can govern the world on its own. A new era is beginning. In fact, these wars, tensions, and problems are the birth pains of a new world. The signs of the new world are emerging. Completely new centers will arise here. It would be more accurate to speak not of multipolarity, but rather of multicentrality. With the formation of a multicentral world, we are entering a new phase."

Kurtulmus highlighted the immense potential and opportunities within the Islamic world. He pointed out that the region is home to nearly 2 billion people, and many of the world's strategic transit points, crucial for energy routes and global political power centers, pass through the Islamic world. He stressed the importance of acknowledging this potential.

Furthermore, Numan Kurtulmus called for unity among Islamic countries. "Unfortunately, the current situation shows that we are not yet at the point where we can fully utilize this potential," he remarked. He urged Islamic nations to bridge differences of opinion, political disagreements, and ethnic and sectarian diversity to avoid confrontation. "If we approach it this way, we can truly become seriously influential in this process," he concluded.
