Number of Azerbaijani Citizens Serving Prison Sentences in Georgia Increases

Tbilisi: The number of Azerbaijani citizens currently serving prison sentences in Georgia has risen to 129, according to the September report from the National Statistics Office of Georgia. This marks an increase of 10 individuals compared to the previous month.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, among these Azerbaijani citizens, 41 are classified as accused persons and 88 as convicted. The accused group comprises 38 men and 3 women, while the convicted group consists of 74 men and 14 women.

Additionally, 56 Azerbaijani citizens are under probation supervision in Georgia, reflecting a decrease of one person from the previous month. This group includes 48 men, 7 women, and 1 teenage boy.

In the broader context, a total of 1,404 foreign nationals and stateless persons are serving prison sentences in Georgia, while 602 foreign citizens are under probation supervision.
