Baku: The number of bank customers in Azerbaijan saw a significant rise as of January 1, 2026, with an increase of 1.5% or 237.3 thousand people, bringing the total to 16 million 236.9 thousand people. According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan reported that the number of bank customer accounts experienced a substantial year-on-year growth of 16.7%, climbing to 55 million 178.9 thousand accounts. During the reporting period, current accounts represented 78.3% of all customer accounts, totaling 43 million 191.5 thousand. Credit accounts accounted for 20.4%, equating to 11 million 260.2 thousand, while deposit accounts made up 1.3% with 727.2 thousand accounts.
