In accordance with the Resolution adopted regarding the defense of older persons in 1992 by the General Assembly of the UN, every year, October 1 is celebrated as an International Day of Older Persons in the world, as well as in Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection told APA.

According to the Law “On social service”, those over the age of 70 are considered as older people. Currently, the number of citizens over the age of 70 in our country is about 440 thousand.
