Ankara: The Corridor is increasingly expanding with the addition of new member companies as a result of the steps we have taken together with Georgia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and Azerbaijan in the development of the Middle Corridor as Trkiye, said Ufuk Yal§in, the General Director and Chairman of the Board of Trkiye’s State Railways “TCDD Tasimacilik,” in his statement to journalists.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Yal§in highlighted the corridor’s main feature in facilitating transportation between China and Europe, ensuring that products can be moved in the shortest time and in the safest way. He mentioned that the International Association “Trans-Caspian International Transport Route” currently boasts more than 20 members, indicating a growing interest and investment in this network.
Yal§in also discussed ongoing consultations with Azerbaijan aimed at strengthening the Middle Corridor. The goal is to elevate freight transport along the corridor to 2.5 million tons by next year, with plans to carry approximately 96,000 containers this year. Efforts have also led to the establishment of a representation in China, aiming to increase freight traffic between west and east by 2025 and beyond, alongside the development of alternative north-south corridors.
