Number of European Tourists Visiting Azerbaijan Increased by 7.3%


Baku: In January 2025, 172.6 thousand foreigners and non-citizen persons from 152 countries arrived in the Republic of Azerbaijan, marking a 4.1 percent increase compared to the same period in the previous year.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Azerbaijan’s State Statistics Committee reported that arrivals from European Union member states saw a 7.3 percent rise, reaching 5.1 thousand people.



The data also highlighted a decrease in the number of visitors from Gulf countries, which dropped by 5.4 percent to 33.2 thousand people. Arrivals from CIS countries saw a decline of 4.8 percent, totaling 58.4 thousand people. Conversely, the number of tourists from other countries experienced a significant increase of 17.3 percent, amounting to 75.9 thousand people.



These figures reflect shifts in tourism patterns in Azerbaijan, showing varied trends among different regions. The increase in European tourists suggests a growing interest in Azerbaijan as a destination for European travelers. Meanwhile, the decrease in visitors from Gulf and CIS countries indicates changing dynamics in travel preferences or circumstances affecting these regions.
