There are 44 people infected with HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) in Azerbaijan, APA reports citing the report regarding the finals of January-June 2022 on the fight against drug addiction and illegal drug trafficking.

In total, the Republican AIDS Center of the Ministry of Health has registered 9,806 people with a confirmed HIV diagnosis since 1988- 9485 citizens are Azerbaijanis, while 321 are foreigners. 6998 of those infected with HIV are men, and 2808 are women. 3531 HIV patients were infected with the virus because of injection drug use. 2482 people from that category are currently registered in the dispensary.
