OIC secretary general calls on OIC universities to develop digital infrastructure for improved learning environment

Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Hissein Brahim Taha called on OIC universities to consider developing digital infrastructure for improved learning experience in conformity with other institutions around the world in the aftermath of Covid-19 pandemic.

 

The secretary general made the call in a statement delivered on his behalf by Ambassador Askar Mussinov, Assistant Secretary General for Science and Technology, at the 35th Meeting of the Governing Council of the Islamic University in Niger (IUN) which opened on 26th February 2023 in Niamey, Republic of Niger. The secretary general further commended the Council and university administration for keeping the university operational despite enormous challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. He advised the university administration to open-up to other universities in the OIC Member States and seek opportunities for collaboration with those universities.

 

The meeting which was chaired by Ambassador Nasser bin Abdullah Al-Zaabi, President of the Permanent Council of the Islamic Solidarity Fund and Chairman of the University Governing Council was graced by the Minister of Higher Education, Research and innovation in the Republic of Niger, Dr. Mamoudou Djibo, Assistant Secretary General of World Muslim League, Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Zaid among others.

 

The meeting considered reports by the Rector, External Auditors and the Academic Committee and adopted a number of resolutions aimed at improving the administrative and academic performance of the university.
