Oil Production Milestone Achieved at West Chirag Platform

Baku: A total of 251 million barrels (34 million tons) of oil have been produced to date from the 'West Chirag' platform located in the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) oil and gas fields block. The milestone was reported by APA-Economics, citing BP, the operator of the ACG project.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, a total of 35 wells have been drilled from the platform so far. This includes 26 oil production wells, 1 gas production well, 7 water injection wells, and 1 well designated for re-injecting drill cuttings into the layers. The West Chirag platform has now been operational for 12 years since first oil was obtained.

The equity distribution in ACG is as follows: BP holds 30.37% and acts as the operator, AzACG (SOCAR) holds 31.65%, MOL owns 9.57%, Inpex has 9.31%, ExxonMobil holds 6.79%, TPAO owns 5.73%, Itochu has 3.65%, and ONGC Videsh Ltd. (OVL) holds 2.92%.
