Baku: The Ombudsman Office has addressed recent allegations concerning the rights protection of certain Armenian-origin individuals sentenced for crimes against peace, humanity, and other serious offenses, as reported by the Ombudsman Office's Press Service to APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Ombudsman Office, through its National Preventive Mechanism, has conducted meetings with these individuals, including Ruben Vardanyan, throughout various stages of their judicial process. The office has continuously monitored their rights, detention conditions, and general treatment.

The monitoring efforts were aligned with international standards, ensuring that these individuals were informed of their rights in their native languages. Their health was assessed by a physician from the National Preventive Group, and they were provided with requested publications, legislative acts, and fiction works.

Prisoners have access to the Ombudsman's 916 Call Center, and their appeals are reviewed under the prevailing legislation. The Ombudsman Office confirmed that the detention facilities meet modern standards, ensuring no discrimination. Prisoners can partake in sports, take walks, organize leisure activities, access information, and maintain phone contact with family members.

Despite initially lacking funds in their accounts, the prisoners' communication with family and other entitlements were not restricted. The Ombudsman Office also fulfilled requests for notarial and medical services, recently observing the fulfillment of Araik Harutyunyan's notarial service request on-site.

The Ombudsman Office emphasized that prisoners' requests for medical examinations and additional communication with family, as well as appeals made by the prisoners and their lawyers, have been honored. Monitoring results indicate that the rights of these individuals are upheld without discrimination.

The office refuted allegations circulating online, labeling them as unfounded, non-reflective of reality, and politically biased.
