Orkhan Zeynally, member of “1918 Democracy” movement, detained

Orhan Zeynally, a member of the “1918 Democracy” movement, was detained on the evening of November 10, the head of the organization, Ahmed Mammadli told Turan.

“Yesterday Orkhan was summoned to the Baku City Police Headquarters and the 18th branch of the Narimanov district police department. He refused to go, without an official summons. And in the evening, people in civilian clothes came to his house and took Orkhan away,” Mammadli said.

To his thinking, the reason for his detention was the activist’s Facebook post. “Orhan wrote a critical post about the police”.

A bicycle was stolen from him a month ago. He contacted the police about this, but his complaint was not considered. Therefore, he criticized the police for inaction,” Mammadli further noted.

The head of media and public relations department of the press service of the Interior Ministry, Elshad Hajiyev confirmed the detention of Zeynally to Turan.

“An investigation is currently underway,” he added.
