Palestinian Embassy Commends Azerbaijan for Supportive Relations

Baku:The Palestinian Embassy in Azerbaijan has expressed gratitude towards Azerbaijan for its supportive stance, highlighting the significant expansion of Palestine's presence in the country throughout 2026.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, a statement from the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Azerbaijan detailed this increased activity as a reflection of the mutual determination to enhance cooperation and develop relations founded on the existing friendship between Palestine and Azerbaijan.

The statement recalled President Ilham Aliyev's decree on August 3, 2026, approving financial assistance to the Palestinian Embassy, following an agreement between the foreign ministries of both nations on July 10, 2026. This move is seen as vital for sustaining the embassy's activities and bolstering bilateral relations and joint initiatives.

Official data from July 2026 indicates that 37 Palestinian students are currently studying in Azerbaijan, with 23 under the Heydar Aliyev International Education Grant Programme. Additionally, in September 2025, 14 Palestinian students were evacuated from the Gaza Strip to continue their studies in Azerbaijan.

The embassy also emphasized Azerbaijan's supportive actions on the international stage, such as voting in favor of Palestine's UN membership eligibility on May 10, 2024, and backing the New York Declaration on the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue on September 12, 2025. These positions have been consistently reiterated in official meetings and on multilateral platforms in 2026.

The Embassy of the State of Palestine extends deep appreciation to President Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani government, and its people for their support and cooperation towards the Palestinian community, including students and delegations. The embassy values these relations and is optimistic about further development based on mutual respect and cooperation, which are fundamental to the growing Palestine-Azerbaijan ties.
