Baku: Speaker of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with Jacob Mudenda, Speaker of the National Assembly of Zimbabwe, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan, as reported by the Milli Majlis Press and Public Relations Department to APA. The meeting underscored the political relations between the two countries and the potential for further expanding bilateral cooperation.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Jacob Mudenda began his visit by touring the plenary session hall of the Milli Majlis, followed by a one-on-one meeting with Sahiba Gafarova. After the meeting, Mudenda visited the Heydar Aliyev Museum within the Milli Majlis, where he signed the Guest Book. The discussions between the two speakers highlighted the favorable opportunities for expanding cooperation in various areas.

The speakers praised the development of relations between their legislative bodies and recalled the participation of Zimbabwe's parliamentary speaker in international forums such as the Parliamentary Meeting co-organized with the Inter-Parliamentary Union at COP29 in Baku. They also noted the importance of meetings held during other international summits, emphasizing the role of such interactions in deepening parliamentary relations.

Interparliamentary cooperation was identified as a crucial element in developing both bilateral and multilateral relations. Gafarova emphasized the importance of intensifying contacts between parliamentary working groups and strengthening cooperation between parliamentary committees. She also highlighted Azerbaijan's commitment to cooperation with Zimbabwe within international parliamentary organizations.

Jacob Mudenda expressed his satisfaction with his visit to Azerbaijan, noting his positive impressions of Baku's development. He also paid tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for Azerbaijan's territorial integrity during visits to the Alley of Honors and Victory Park. Mudenda reiterated Zimbabwe's commitment to developing relations with Azerbaijan, emphasizing the significance of multilateralism and economic cooperation for global peace and stability.
