Shusha:The visit of participants from the Fourth International Conference on Missing Persons, part of the "Baku Dialogue on Missing Persons," to the city of Shusha has ended. The event was organized by the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages, and Missing Persons.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, the conference delegates had the opportunity to explore residential complexes and historical and cultural landmarks in Shusha. Among the highlights was a visit to the iconic bullet-riddled busts of Uzeyir Hajibeyli, Bulbul, and Khurshidbanu Natavan, as well as a tour of the Shusha Fortress, where they posed for a commemorative photo.
The group also visited Shusha Prison and received briefings on the crimes committed against Azerbaijani prisoners of war and hostages during the occupation. It remains a concern that the fate of 144 individuals held there is still unknown.
Additionally, it was reported that following the liberation of Shusha from occupation, the remains of 31 individuals were exhumed from two mass graves discovered in the area.
The delegation's activities in the region also included a visit to the Khojaly Genocide Memorial Complex before reaching Shusha. While in the city, they observed newly constructed residential buildings, ongoing construction projects, and the development of a new mosque. Plans for further exploration of Shusha's historical sites and a deeper understanding of the city's history were also part of the itinerary.
