Patriarch Bartholomew: We Applaud Religious Tolerance in Azerbaijan

Istanbul: Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office, met with Fener Greek Orthodox Patriarch Bartholomew in Istanbul. Hailing the Patriarch's efforts to promote interfaith dialogue and global peace, the Chairman highlighted the atmosphere of tolerance that has prevailed in Azerbaijan for centuries.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Pashazade emphasized that intercultural dialogue in Azerbaijan, under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, is currently at its highest level. He noted that Azerbaijan is regarded as a center of interfaith and intercultural dialogue.

Patriarch Bartholomew stressed that he has always applauded religious tolerance in Azerbaijan and remarked on the significance of the upcoming 31st session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. Scheduled to be held in Trkiye in November this year, the event is expected to serve as a decisive platform for humanity.

The meeting also featured discussions on issues of mutual interest, followed by an exchange of commemorative gifts.
