Baku: An event on the theme 'Peace-Positive Climate Action through Urban Solutions in Fragile and Conflict-Affected Settings' was held in Baku as part of the 13th Session of the UN World Urban Forum (WUF13). The event was co-organized by the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture, the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), the Baku Climate and Peace Action Hub, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Gulshan Rzayeva, Deputy National Coordinator of WUF13 and Deputy Chief of Staff of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture, Anna Soave, Head of UN-Habitat's Country Office in Azerbaijan, Elshad Iskandarov, Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other officials attended the event. The sessions featured discussions on issues such as climate change, building sustainable settlements in the post-conflict period, safe return mechanisms, and urban sustainability.

Gulshan Rzayeva emphasized that Azerbaijan is shaping an important legacy for the future through the COP and WUF platforms. She noted that Azerbaijan's large-scale restoration and reconstruction activities in the post-war period are developing a new development model for post-crisis and post-conflict situations.

Ambassador Elshad Iskandarov stated that there is a connection between climate change and urbanization, highlighting that the process significantly impacts refugee camps. He pointed out that the countries most affected by climate change are also financially vulnerable states.
